Decorative Gourd II

Decorative Gourd II let me treat a naturally grown globe like a tiny, three-dimensional abstract painting. 

I wrapped its curves in twisting fields of bright red, blue, yellow, purple, and orange, then separated each area with bold metallic gold lines that mimic old stained glass.

As you turn it, the colors shift and the gold catches the light, so it never looks quite the same twice. 

Sealed with a clear gloss, it's sturdy enough for everyday display on shelves, dining tables, or entry consoles - a cheerful little sculpture for anyone who enjoys art with both roots in nature and a modern, graphic edge.
