Carved Gourd

Carved Gourd is where my love of pattern meets the patience of slow carving. 

I mapped the surface into tiny, interlocking cells, then gently cut along each border so the shell itself holds the design in low relief.

One by one, I filled those compartments with vivid, gem-like colors - ruby, cobalt, emerald, violet, and flickers of gold - until the whole sphere resembled a small, ancient lantern. 

Turn it in your hands and the facets catch light differently with every angle. It's a striking tabletop accent for anyone drawn to mosaic, stained glass, or richly textured, one-of-a-kind objects.
